“The story of Mad Bastards is universal. No matter the color of your skin, your place of origin or social standing, you will connect with it.” The Reel Place USA

The new Australian feature film Mad Bastards launched onto screens across the Australia (& the world) in 2011 combined with a rich and evocative soundtrack featuring multi-ARIA award winning singer/songwriter Alex Lloyd with legendary Broome musicians Alan and Stephen Pigram [Pigram Brothers] – being 3 years in the making!. The film had already created a stir with a sell-out World Premiere screening at the 2011 Sydney Festival, and rave reviews from its international debut at the Sundance Film Festival… where the musicians enjoyed international attention at one of the world’s biggest film festivals.

The soundtrack to Mad Bastards stands on its own as a reflection of life in remote North Western Australia – haunting, moving and soulful. The first single from the soundtrack, “Nothing Really Matters” had been added to high rotation on the ABC local radio network nationally, community radio and well as plays on prominent stations including  triple j. Immensely popular in their hometown of Broome and across WA, the Pigram Brothers have amassed a vast collection of accolades for their music, and created a sound that truly possesses a magical and unique sound.

Multi Platinum selling  & four [4] time ARIA Award winning Alex Lloyd, joined forces with the Pigram Brothers to create this surprising & astounding musical coupling. Alex Lloyd reckons that until he connected with Alan and Stephen Pigram he “never realised how good my voice was”. “This experience [with Alan and Stephen] has changed me musically…I’ve realised just how much less is more”, says Alex Lloyd. Having touring the ‘soundtrack to national sold out shows, we look forward to another ‘Mad Bastards’ tour soon.

Extensive periods of time spent in the Kimberley with Stephen and Alan [Pigram] while making the movie has resulted in a raw, sparse and rich album of songs. The soundtrack also features the track Sleeping Cold by Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson. Mad Bastards, the movie, was written and directed by the incredibly all round good guy, Brendan Fletcher. A visceral story of transformation set amongst the wild lands of northwest Australia, it is released by Transmission/ Paramount Pictures and available on DVD now (see more here – http://www.madbastards.com.au )

‘ Mad Bastards’ – The Soundtrack from the motion picture is out now distributed by MGM nationally.
